Human-Centric Software Engineering
Description

This research line is situated at the intersection of software engineering (SE) and socio-technical systems. We focus on the design of socio-technical ecosystems for the public and private sector, developing methods and tools that ensure that software is not only technically robust, but ethically responsible, inclusive, and a catalyst for solving complex problems in contexts of high uncertainty.

Research Topics

Value-Centric Software Engineering (SE)

Development of public systems that integrate human values (well-being, equity, and diversity) from the early phases of the software life cycle.

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Ethical and Responsible

Advanced study for the mitigation of bias in digital platforms. We focus on interface transparency and the eradication of “dark patterns” to safeguard citizen autonomy.

Social Sustainability in Sociotechnical Ecosystems

Analysis of the impact of software on the social fabric, especially in peacebuilding and rural development scenarios, for example. We study the relationship between the technological artifact and local communities.

Experimental Digital Governance

Research of inclusive Digital Transformation models through digital frameworks, ensuring that the modernization of the State does not deepen existing gaps.
